Combine the power of journaling with the release of fire

Journaling is the number one tool in our well-being toolbox!

We humans have been staring into flames for hundreds of thousands of years. It is an age-old method to release what no longer serves you, transform wasted energy or make an offering.

Hidden pockets, envelopes tucked inside hidden pages, specialty papers, small pages that open into full pages, stick-it notes to emphasize an important thought after you've written it and hidden it away... The list goes on. These handmade books add a textural sense and creates pauses by design. Some papers are tiny - you need to be concise. Other papers are dark and think and you may not even be able to read what you wrote. Perfect! The thought is there. Roll it into a small shape and tuck it away.  And then burn everything!

When we facilitated workshops, journaling was often an important part of it. But so was movement and sounding. I realized that when all the senses are involved, clarity is more easily identified. I decided that the writing should take on another element. Simple pages were designed at first, little more than stapled sheets that we later burned. Then I created booklets following the power of mythology to create a fuller process, calling in the wisdom of these ancient tales before offering them to the flames. Once I discovered the junk-journal style of recycling to make an adventurous book, I found my calling! This allows me to put energy, art, focus, and love into every page, pocket, and cut piece. 

I hear that all the time. But these are designed to be fed to the fire. And I don't just mean intention-wise: they physically are not made to last. I do not use archival ink. Most pages are recycled from an earlier use and they are bound with linen tape.  Please do not pull pieces out to save or share as that defeats the energy of the entire piece. Burn them! Burn them and let them do their work knowing you are releasing a wave of good vibrations built right in.
